IPIS has published a guide that offers practical guidance to companies about the international human rights framework and how business fit into it.

IPIS discusses the recognized understanding of the "core human rights categories":

• the rights protecting life and security of the person;
• economic, social and cultural rights; civil and political rights;
• the collective rights and indigenous peoples’ rights;
• international crimes;
• labour rights.

IPIS also includes in their guide a human rights compliance assessment tool to provide companies’ representatives an idea on how to apply the human rights in their business decisions and operations. IPIS uses the diagnostic assessment tool that has produced by the Danish Institute for Human Rights.

The guide should be used as a tool for businesses and does not absolve them from not working out detailed principles for the specific sector which they are operational. It is imperative for business managers to take the frameworks and use it in their daily operations.
